About Us
Robert Dohm, utilizing the knowledge and contacts acquired during 25 years as a Case territory manager,
started Northern Michigan Equipment Company in 1987. Initially the company handled construction equipment,
adding agricultural lines during
the second year of operation. Currently, NMEC is a dealer for products
from Case, Terex, Interstate Trailers, Kilby (Fruit Harvesters), Badger Equipment, Reynolds
International (Pull behind Scrapers), Paladin Construction Equipment, and Protech (Snow Pushers).
Sons Jeff and Ron joined the company as Vice President and Parts Manager. NMEC now has 10 full-time
employees, and Jeff now is the President of the company.
Until 1992, the entire company, sales, parts, service, was housed in the building that is currently
used solely for service. The purchase of the building at the upper end of the driveway allowed the
relocation and expansion of parts, sales, and administration.
Through the years, NMEC’s share of the heavy equipment sales and service market has steadily increased.
In 1998, NMEC entered a new market – equipment rental, which has expanded our customer base and revenue
opportunities.
